New Data on Attitudes about Biden, the Economy, Inflation, and COVID-19 Vaccines
In our new national CNBC All-America Economic Survey, we find a big shift toward pessimism about the economy. President Biden’s numbers have lost some of their post-election shine, and they now reflect the current uncertainties about new COVID variants and the economy. While the president’s overall approval is steady, approval scores for his economic and COVID policies have dipped. COVID is the top concern among Democrats and young people, and Republicans more focused on immigration and crime. Still, Americans are worried, expressing concern that the new Delta and other variants will lead to economic lockdown and a surge in deaths and hospitalizations. In terms of vaccinations, there is a substantial divide on the idea of vaccine mandates as well as where they would be necessary, though majorities favor vaccine requirements for hospital employees and on planes and cruise ships.
