Hart’s Expertise on America’s Diverse Voices
The continued growth and spread of the Latino population in the United States increasingly place Latinos as critical electoral players and deciders in diverse political contexts across the country. We know that truly understanding the impact of Latinos in American elections requires shifting our attention from “the Latino vote” to Latino voters themselves and their diverse lived experiences. In our Latino research for Senator Cortez Masto, Telemundo, and so many other clients, we lead with an understanding of how a wide range of factors matter, including language, gender, national origin, generation, race, education, and political contexts.

In addition to the requisite skills of any social researcher, accurately polling Black Americans requires concrete knowledge about their circumstances (past and present), and an abstract understanding of the forces that shape their unique experiences and ideas. Some of our projects—such as our focus groups with Black high school students about attending college—focus exclusively on Black Americans. Others—like our national survey designed to help Democrats effectively talk about crime—seriously consider Black Americans as one key constituency among others.

With more than 24 million people and roots in more than 20 countries, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) rank among the fastest-growing racial and ethnic groups in the United States. However, there exists a knowledge gap in understanding and engaging this increasingly powerful voting bloc, characterized by remarkable cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity. Our research has helped to bridge this gap through large-scale, multilingual surveys in partnership with organizations dedicated to empowering and engaging AAPI communities nationwide.
