As California Grapples with Teacher Shortage, Statewide Survey Finds Major Barriers for Building & Sustaining Teaching Profession

There is an imperative in California to address the massive teacher shortage and to improve both teacher retention and recruitment. To inform potential policy changes that will help accomplish these goals, Hart Research completed a quantitative survey in May and June, 2022, among current teachers, as well as qualitative, in-depth interviews in June and July, 2022, with former teachers and aspiring teachers who have taught or plan to teach in California.
