Hart Research’s Commitment to Improving Political Polling

In December 2020, we shared our initial thoughts on the work we needed to do as a firm to address issues of accuracy in political polling.  Since then, our political division, Garin-Hart-Yang Research Group, has undertaken a thorough review of our sampling, methodology, and weighting processes. As state voter files have been updated, we have compared our results and the demographics of our polls to the actual results and voter file data. While this internal work is ongoing, we have taken the nearly unprecedented step of partnering with four other leading Democratic polling firms (ALG Research, GBAO Strategies, Global Strategy Group, and Normington Petts), to share our collective resources and experiences. These steps all have the ultimate goal of improving the accuracy of our work for Democratic political campaigns.
